1st Trip to Florida!!
Hi everyone!
I am taking a vacation mid October to Fort Lauderdale.
I have a few questions, as I have never been to Florida. Did the hurricane(s) happen to hit this part of Florida?
Where is a nice hotel to stay? (around the airport maybe?) Will I need a rental car?
Things to do? Please
!!
Thanx in advance!
Crystal

Ft. Lauderdale is not my side of the state Crystal but you have perhaps picked one of the most beautiful months to be in Florida. I just love October. Flowers still blooming and the mornings and evenings are a bit cooler (not not like Michigan cooler). I hope you have a wonderful time in the Sunshine State!
Crystal,
I dont live in Lauderdale but have been there many times. I would recommend getting a rental car since that area is very large and spread out. Plus, if you're in Lauderdale you might as well check out South Beach and Miami since you aren't that far away. The beach is nice and shopping is good too. Back to Lauderdale, I love to go watch the sun rise from one of the piers then go get breakfast with my friend. Boy, do I need to do that again soon.
Have a nice trip!
Amy

You will definitely need a car!
Also, to my knowledge, they are fine over there. No major hurricane damage, but you never know what can happen with all these stupid tropical storms and hurricanes coming this way.
Your best bet for a hotel is to just check travelocity.com or orbitz.com
I've only been there once and I just went to Aventura Mall, which is just a mall
Hi Crystal, I lived here most of my life. I also work in Fort Lauderdale. You definitely will need a car. Who are you traveling with friends or family? I would stay on the beach. There are many nice hotels and alot of night clubs. There a plenty of things to do but it all depends on what you like. E-mail me and I will give you some ideas.
Christine
