Off Topic...but thoughts are needed...
For over a year now I have held a job with a local company that does not supply health insurance. I am to the point of getting fired or quitting. I may quit tomorrow I don't know. I know that my family will not be thrilled with me and I fear their reaction. However, this in turn will motivate me to work harder to find a new job with an insurance plan a lot faster.
These two hurricanes have caused me to lose a lot of work as is, so its as if I have no income to speak of. Just maybe $100 here and $100 there. This paycheck is going to suck. I tried to call my job today and couldn't get through because the phones were so staticy and kept disconnecting before I got an answer, heck I may have and got disconnected before they said hello.
Now, I have a pile of 40 reports at my house that I cannot work because all my equipment is on that computer and not this one. I'm really a baby, for wanting to quit but I seem to be running out of luck as far as getting independent health insurance. So, I'm asking what you all think of me? Do those who have met me feel I am a horrible person? I don't want to quit but I can't put up with my boss anymore and the lack of insurance. No matter how much I beg for them to get it. They are a DIRTY company and anyone who lives in Sanford can pass their crap -arse building and see for themselves.
I think, since I know a lot now about houses and what qualifies them and disqualifies them for insurance coverage I may be able to get me a job with an actual insurance company such as All State, USAA and such. I don't know, I hope so. I may give a two week notice and look elsewhere. I need out, my boss called my house and got voice mail, my dad says she assumes we have power. Hmmm she must be on crack, just cause voice mail picks up does not mean there is power and such. Ah well ... if I get a new job and stick for a long time and get the health insurance plan (hopfully humana) I can get the surgery. This is what I want and need to see a better tomorrow.
I feel so pathetic.

Heather,
AGI in Lake Mary is an insurance company that may be hiring. I have heard good things about them. CNA is in Maitland, also have heard good things about them. Hewitt (they handle benefits for major companies) is out by UCF, they just won best employer in Central FL. I guess giving out free lunches daily helps. Apparently, they handle Disney's insurance and part of their relationship with Disney has their cafeteria run by Disney Catering and they feed their employees daily.
Just a few places you might want to consider that would offer you benefits

Heather,
I forgot to mention that although you may feel bad leaving your current job, you need to take care of yourself first. Any company that has a good employee and offers poor (or NO) benefits isn't going to be surprised when that employee moves on. If you feel the company is dirty and dont care for the ethics of your boss, then definitely move on (you dont want to be associated with that, do you?). BUT try to find a new job first so you dont have a break in pay. It is common for companies without a lot of integrity to not let you work thru your two weeks notice, just let you go then. Then you would really be up a creek

Heather.. ok first of all... who cares what anybody thinks of you. I know how you are feeling.. I used to be the same way. It took years of drilling in my head by my husband to realize that you have to do what is best for YOU.. not your family or friends. If this is something you feel you need to do to advance in life then do it. Amy is right.. this company can not exspect to keep employees with no benefits.. not even insurance. If I was you.. I would put in my 2 weeks and begin to look for a new job. The way it sounds your parents are probably a big support for you right now.. this way you will atleast look responsible in taking care of this situation. If they give you a hard time or question your decision then be sure you have a plan of action in explaining to them the importance of the job change. You mentioned you might be getting fired too.. so who's to say that they might even fire you right after you put in your notice. Either way.. you get what you want. Start tomorrow in finding a new job.. check out the ones Amy mentioned then look online. Get a resume ready of the skills you do know so that it looks good when appling. Good Luck and let us know what you decide.

Heather, take care of yourself first. Money is important, but benefits are just as important. If you are working for a job that you hate, where you aren't making any money, and have no benefits, why are you there. Go find a better job, with benefits, and then you can get your surgery. Don't waste another day, get a new job and then quit the old one, it dosen't sound to me like you owe them anything. Good Luck, Steve
Thank you everyone for you replies. I posted my resume, up to date no less on careerbuilder. I have all ready received several replies one is for financial advisor with American Express o.o basically a call center job. They require business attire and are located in J-Ville. Wow what a distance to drive for work. But if I were to get it, it wouldn't be so bad I don't think. If my schedule is 5 days a week I could get a hotel room o.0 and stay up there, better then driving back and forth. But I have to think on this one.
ive met you once and we didnt talk much but thats ok... NO you are NOT a bad person... souds like your job is pretty sucky... and if you wanna move on tahst fine... but have you checked into medicaid... im not sure of the quilifications to get into there but mabye you can try looking... also.... good luck with the finding of the new job... xoxo
