Today I was told that BC/BS PPO does NOT cover lap band. Is there anyone on the boards that has had a lap band covered by Bc BS? Please let me know how you did it. My surgery is scheduled for 9/23. Thanks

I work for BCBSFL and they do not cover the lap band. Actually, in January 2005, they will not pay for any WLS procedure at all.

I have BCBSHO and I have been told the same thing. They will not cover lapband and I had to hurry and get mine done before the end of the year because of them not covering it in 2005. I know it sucks. So maybe you could do the RNY instead. I got a response in a big 4 days. Here I was thinking 4 weeks..
