Woo Hoo! It's Friday! Not that it really matters for me because I am going to work on Sunday, but it still beats working on a weekday at my job ! I recently had to facilitate a 2 hr. meeting at work, there were about 60 people there and I think I did a pretty good job. I was pretty nervous going into the meeting but decided this is a great way to break thru my fear of public speaking and show a different side of me to my boss (who didn't come to work that day by the way). They say public speaking is the #1 fear for most people, how many of you have a fear of public speaking? Amy

Morning Amy, Public speaking doesn't bother me with a small group of people, I always view it as a teaching opportunity and I love teaching people. Part of the nurse in me. A large group, I am not so sure about. One on One can be frightening for me. People get to see the real you. That can be frightening at times! Have a good one Julie

Good Morning! Public Speaking use to terrify me. I would get IBS just thinking about it. Then about 12 years ago I went into direct sales for a national party plan company (of all things!!! ). I opened up my mouth at a meeting and the rest is history. I went on to travel around the states for this company as a motivational speaker!

I still prefer small groups to large. I can remember two times in my life I would have ran out the door and never came back. The first was many many years ago. I was head of volunteers in a northwest section of GA. My job was to set up the girlscout program and to do this, I had to speak to large groups of parents. Well on the stage I went and about half way through, I starting loosing my voice. Th e voice got deeper and lower, started to crack, the whole bit. That was the longest night I haver ever spent. The second time, I was to testify before a judge. This guy has at least 30 charges. The judge wanted them all read into the record. The kids dad was a big wig in Tampa, and ofcourse he was in court. I also want this kid to go away very bad. So I started reading each charge, by the 15 th or so, the voice started going, cracking and everything. After 2or3 more, the Judge said he had heard enough. Thank the god Lord. He sentenced the kids to the max, about 40 years prison. I was glad of that, got him off the street. It was not just, "charged with grand theft", but details and more details. So needless to say, I do not do well in front of large groups. Marla

Jan, the company that I was with during that time was House of Lloyd. Most know it as Christmas Around The World.
