Ok, I am calm now
Thank you to everyone who let me vent and freak out. Everything is fine now.
I decided to press the issue with United Healthcare. Boy are those people awesome! I called back yesterday, spoke to another person in Care Coordination who said my file just went to the review department or whatever they care called. I explained to him that I was trying to avoid a visit to my PCP about my diet history, etc....
He then put me on hold to speak to his supervisor who is familiar with WLS. She said not to worry about the diet history. It's rare that they want it.
I wanted more confirmation than that. SO...... he put me in contact with another woman there who works closely with the authorizations department. She asked me some personal questions, told me to contact Dr. Murr's office and have them send everything over.
So, I emailed Susan, told her what was going on. She forwarded my email to the authorizations department. I told Susan she was THE BEST! (which really, she has been very helpful).
Now, I am going to say this though........ Just because I didn't have to do the diet history DOES NOT MEAN that anyone who has UHC shouldn't do it either.
To save from having the headache I did, just get the diet history.
We all have dieted, not all have it documented, but work on getting it documented.
Now wouldn't it be a real kicker if I got denied anyway?
