calling POST -OP's again
Ok hello everyone
I was very wrong on the eating thing. I guess they shouldn't have given me the instructions while I was on that Morphine drip "HAHA"
However, the doctor called me back yesterday and said he wants me to start eating this week and in my book, it really doesn't say what to eat. So again I am calling all *****POST -OP's***** again...
What did you eat in the beginning?? Please give me some ideas! I am scared to eat due to getting sick or something so I just need some of everyone's input... Give me a few days sample menus please!!!
Thanks in advance and Take care ~ Robin

Robin,
Post Op, I was on liquids for two weeks whi*****luded Crystal Light, 1% or skim milk, protein shakes, SF jello or pudding, runny blended oatmeal or cream of wheat, cream soups, broth, apple juice, runny mashed potatoes. What I was told was that everything should be very thin, thin enough to run thru a mesh strainer in the beginning. Then I moved to pureed/soft foods for two weeks whi*****luded regular (no****ered down) oatmeal, grits, cream of wheat, refried beans, saltines (because they are soluble in water), peanut butter, scrambled eggs, hummus, mashed avacado, yogurt and SF pudding. I didnt start trying meat until about 6 weeks out and I am still struggling with that now. I admit I wasnt a star pupil, I tried a few foods too early and got sick.
***Here is something from Dame Tooter's profile that I saved since it was a good list:
As for what are soft foods? Here's some for you to consider and compare to the LIST I hope your doc gave you: Soft poached eggs, chopped fine, soft scrambled eggs - kind of runny, hot cereal, mashed taters, mashed yams, mashed turnips, tuna and egg salads (you can combine them too), sugar-free sorbet (have recipe if you want it), cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, moz cheese sticks, squeeze cheese, bananas, peanut butter, cream cheese, mashed berries, canned peaches - I mashed these - same with canned pears, chili (meat pureed, if need be), over-cooked broccoli/cauliflower to mushy, corned beef hash, watermelon, flan, custard, soft fish, crab, avocados, refried beans with or without cheese, cream of rice, grits (good with cheese, or sliced and fried with sugar-free syrup)...not all of these will be on YOUR doctors approved list.***
Good luck,
Amy
