Hey y'all
Hi everybody! I haven't posted in about a week. And here's why! The weekend of the 21st and 22nd I went out with my mom and did a lot of walking and shopping.
So that following Monday I was totally wiped out and couldn't get out of bed. Well by Wednesday evening I was feeling sooo queazy and was running a temp. And I was beginning to have tightness in my left shoulder. I called Dr. Murr's service and ended up speaking to a resident who said he was pretty sure that it had nothing to do with my pouch.
So Thursday morning my hubby called our PCP's office and they got me in right away. I was immediately started on antibiotics and sent for x-rays. On Friday afternoon I got the call that I had pnuemonia in my left lung. My fever had gotten up to 102.2 at 2am on Friday. Then after that fever I haven't gotten another one. (knock on wood)
I am feeling much better. I have more x-rays next week. And have to use the incentive spirometer three times more than I had been using it. And I have to thank Kim Nalepa for being so wonderful!! She called to check on me and returned my panic calls.
On the plus side, when I weighted in at my pcp's office, their scales say I am down 41lbs in 3 weeks!!
Karee
Karee, Glad you're on the mend. Must have been a bug brewing at Tampa General. I came home from the orientation and support meetings (12th) with "community bronchitis" and have been on antibiotics and cough med since last Wed.
Good golly Karee 41 lbs in 3 weeks, that is pretty awesome. Take care of yourself.
Glad you're feeling better and it must be great to see those numbers drop.
The insentive spirometer is definently a key to help prevent you from getting that pneumonia again. if they haven't told you, make sure to give a good deep hard cough after using the I.S. it will help get all that crud out of your lungs! I use to work on a general surgical floor.
Keep up the good work, I'm excited to see how much everyone changes for the better
