Nebie Thanks! (and another question)
Thanks to all of you that responded to my first post. I really
appreciate your input regarding my insurance pre-approval plans.
I've had a very minor bump in the road -- I spoke with Tracy, the
surgeon's insurance gal, yesterday, and she said my packet was ready
to go to BCBS except for 1 thing... they had not received the
results from my Thyroid lab tests. I called my PCP and left a
message for his wonderful nurse. She called me first thing this
morning and said, yes, they had gotten the results and she would be
glad to have someone in the files dept. fax a copy to the surgeon.
So it appears that the lab failed to send the results to BOTH docs.
I'm hoping to hear from the surgeon's office tomorrow that they've
gotten the Thyroid labs & that my packet is on its way to BCBS.
Keep your fingers crossed!
Tracy also told me it has been taking about 6 weeks to get BCBS
approval but that's OK. I've got some fun things planned in Sept &
early Oct. so I wouldn't be too upset if it takes that long - just
as long as I do get approved!
I do have another question.... How have you told your family &
loved ones that you are going to have wls when you KNOW they are not
going to be in favor of it? My husband & sons are VERY supportive
but I know my parents & other family members will be so upset that
I'm taking such a drastic step. Don't get me wrong, they will
support me in anything I do, but since someone they know died in the OR
from wls, they will be worried to death. And since none of them
have a serious weight problem they don't understand why I can't
just "stick to a diet" and lose the weight. I've decided I won't
say anything to them until I have BCBS approval because if I don't
have insurance, I won't be having surgery, but I sure could use some
ideas of what to say to ease their fears & make them understand WHY
I need to do this.
Thanks again for all your support!
