It ain't wine until it's time

I know that "it ain't wine until it's time, but this waiting has me down. I waited for almost 4 weeks for insurance approval. I called the insurance to find out what the stall was...they couldn't find my records...then 45 minutes later they called me back to tell me that found my file on a typist's desk who was to type the approval letter. She didn't come in the day before, and was not in that day. They assured me that it would be typed and sent the following day (BCBS). That was 7/27. We were leaving for vacation. I e-mailed Susan at Dr. Murr's office that I was approved and to just give me the first date...whatever it is...when she received the letter and I would call her upon returning...I also left my cell number in case she wanted to reach me. Two weeks later, no message, no date. I called and Susan told me that they were unclear about the approval letter as it didn't have an approval number. She said she called the insurer and left a message that day but didn't get a call back yet. I called my insurer and they advised they don't give numbers and I was approved for this surgery. I called and left a message with Susan giving her a toll free number and a dedicated persons name to call at my insurance company for any questions or clarification. This all was last Wednesday and Thursday. Because of weather cir****tances beyond our control Tampa General was closed on Friday. Today is Clinic day. Still no word. I have a great deal of confidence in Susan and the people at Dr. Murr's office....but I'm so antsy. I know when I do get a date I will have a whole NEW range of emotions...I just feel frustrated and "out of control" of the situation. I HATE ANSWERING MACHINGES! SUSAN IS CALLING CLAUDIA, LEAVING A MESSAGE, CLAUDIA IS CALLING SUSAN, LEAVING A MESSAGE! I know, I know, It ain't wine until its time! Thanks you all for letting me vent!

my experience with my insurance company is that that were allowed 45 days to approve or deny my surgery, they took all 45 days because it is elective surgery, and because they can!!! Then they approved it and had a reference number for the doctors office. Susan is a pro and she will get to the bottom of this. believe me they want patients to have the surgery and be covered for payment just as much as we want the surgery. i know it is so frustrated waiting. if i were you i would call the insurance company and ask for the nurse manager and discuss your problem and see if she can get you the approval number and pertinent info. good luck to you!

I have BC/BS and post op. Took them 3 days to approve and fax Dr Murr's office. Papers were faxed direct to one person, approved and approval faxed back. Good luck. Marla

Rosey, keep on them, sooner or later someone will get tired of you calling and they will get hold of the other person. Don't let them forget about you. Good luck.
