hello all, we took a pretty hard hit from the hurricane in the orlando area. it is really sad to see all the destruction. my home and those of my family were all spared but most of us have been without power, phone service and water since friday night. i am dying to get back home and start cleaning out the fridge and freezer and do some laundry. i have so much to do but without power its hard to do regular chores. i'll post again once i am back home and feeling back in th groove. take care, amy

Amy Glad you all are okay. It is a real bummer with electricity and all. I remember being that way 8 days after Opal AND I WAS IN GEORGIA. It sent tornadoes, etc at us. Anyway, I will not give you hard time about no questions of the day for a while and when you get to read this, know that I am anxiously waiting to hear that you have got your "groove back". Carol

Carol, Thanks for cutting me some slack on the Question of the Day , I am sorry but the hurricane has put a wrench in my priorities here. I'll be back as soon as I can. Right now, I am trying to kill some time while I am hanging out at my sister's house since she has power still. Hopefully, I will have mine back by tomorrow so I can have a normal work day, if not they might just have to see me without makeup and with really flat hair ! Take care, Amy

Amy, I glad you and your family are ok. It's funny when the storm first turned, we were so happy because it missed us again, then you start thinking of those it did hit. You hate to feel so happy when someone else is suffering. My wife and I took a ride down to Frostproof today, to see how some of her family faired, luckily, there are all OK. The damage was unbelievable, you see it on the TV all the time, but it's totally different when you see it in person. The areas we drove through were sparsley populated, so we saw a bunch of pulled up trees and broken telephone poles, some destroyed trailersand homes, and no power anywhere. I spoke with a guy on the road heading back, they were going from Sebring to Plant city, just to get some ice. I know not everyone was lucky, but considering Florida wa**** with a Cat 4 hurricane, it could have been a lot worse. Funny story, that is not so funny, my daughter works for an ambulance company, they evacuated people out of south Tampa nursing homes and took them to shelters in Winter Haven. South Tampa was not hit, the hurricane hit Winter Haven and tore the roof off of one of the shelters they took patients to, 40 people were injured. They would have been fine if they hadn't had been evacuated. Good luck to all, and may we have a speedy recovery in the Sun Shine State.
