Minor setback, but no regrets.
Starting Sunday night I developed a severe pain and cramping between my ribs and bellybutton. It kept me awake most of the night, and was still there when I woke up on Monday, although it had lessened. I avoided food for most of the day on Monday, and finally had a small piece of stewed chicken (chopped and chewed to mush) with some broth, and a few teaspoons of unsweetened applesauce. An hour later the pain was back and very intense. Then I started throwing up. My husband convinced me to call my surgeon (Dr. Webb) and his associate advised me to head to the hospital. So I spent the night in St Lukes having xrays, an Upper GI, CT scan, IV fluids, nausea meds, and pain meds.
Thankfully, they found nothing wrong, but they still arent sure what caused this whole thing. Maybe I ate too fast, or too much, or something got stuck for awhile in the pouch. All I know is I am going to be EXTRA careful from now on.
So Im home, I'm tired and weak and not even slightly hungry. Oh yeah, as much as I hate IV's, the nausea meds were worth it.

P.S. Dr. Webb & his associates, and the staff at St Lukes hospital are awesome. All of them have taken really good care of me, both during the surgery and last nights ER trip.

Hi Michele! I am sorry to hear about the bad time. I am glad they didn't find anything wrong but I know it must also be frustrating when that happens and you aren't really sure of the reason. Those are some of the things that make me nervous but not so nervous I am changing my mind. Glad to hear Dr Webb and staff came through for you in your hour of need. He is to be my surgeon and I want to know he is going to be there if I need him.
Get to feeling better soon. Congrats on the -25# I am sure it will be more soon.
Keep us informed to how you are feeling.
Carol
