Pre-Op Crisis

I called Dr. Jawad's office to see if my insurance packet had been sent out yet and was informed that the girl who normally reviews and assembles the packets' last day working there was Friday! The new girl has started but it only in training and they have no idea how long it will be before mine will be sent out!!!!!! I know this sounds petty compared to other people's struggles during the Pre-Op period but my insurance will not be covering WLS after Jan 1. God knows how long until that packet gets there, then I have to wait 4-6 weeks for my insurance's medical review. If I'm denied I will need time to fix whatever it is...and then the time to plan the Pre-Op procedures and the actually surgery. Maybe I'm just kind of freakin' out over nothing. This surgery means so much to me and I thought I had this under control and I'm afraid it's slipping already. I know you all realize this, b/c you've been there too, but this surgery is my last chance at a better life, for me and my son.

Sorry to hear of your problem at the Dr's office. Everyone ha**** one bump or another. As we have talked before that a couple of days before my surgery the hospital stopped the Dr. from doing anymore surgeries. Just keep your head up and we will all say a feew prayers. GOOD LUCK.

Thanks Brian for the words of encouragement-you're an . What happened to you with e-mail...you just kind of disappeared? Is everything alright or did my question kind of scare you off? I hope you're ok and I'm thinking of you as your date approaches. No matter how rough I think I have it, I'm still very happy for you and the others who have made it that far! Take care!

Danielle, I talked to Nicia who was sort of the insurance guru and Heather was the one who sent out the file and called me to tell me about my approval. I have no idea who left there, but either one of those two should be able to help you get your file out! I hope the new person gets trained REAL fast so you can get approved QUICK!! Good luck!! Jan

Danielle, Sorry to hear the delay. You might want to consider driving to the office and picking up the packet if need be. Dr Jawad is the BEST. I think his staff sometimes is overworked and they run out of hours in the day. I know I was frustrated quite a bit too. We want this so badly and we want it NOW!! Just keep calling and calling or make a road trip if need be. Sometimes you have to take the bull by the horns yourself. Necia is the one I dealt with and if ya bug her enough she will come thru for ya. I overnighted all my paperwork to Jawad's office for them to send out to insurance back in beginning of Feb and they had t for 2 weeks before it went to insurance. But all's well that ends well. I was approved on April 2nd and had surgery April 28th. Take lots of deep breaths and know this will happen for you.

Danielle, give the Surgeons office a chance to train the new girl. It's better for you if it sits a couple of days and then gets sent out correctly, with everthing included, instead of sent out wrong, and denied because something was left out. Good luck and try to be patient.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I think Steve hit the nail on the head though, I need to start working on some patience b/c it's better to let the new girl get trained properly than to rush her and risk any screwups that might delay me even more...better to get it done right the first time I suppose.
