I have been researching surgery for at least 3 years. I was scheduled 2 years ago and cancelled due to financial reasons. I have decided to have the surgery now and have to go thu the submission again. I will be getting new insurance thu my new company and I'm not sure if WLS is covered. I'm in a state that I want to do something but have to wait to get my policy. Does anyone have any ideas of what I can do to make this process go any faster. I have my surgeon picked out and know my medical history. I need something to do that will be productive. I'm tired of sitting and waiting.

Welcome to florida board. Don't know how to help you hurry it along. Just do any paper work and watch your paper trail making sure everyone gets what they are to be sent. Sometimes no one is in a hurry like us. Good luck on your journey. Carol

If you know what insurance company you will have you might want to check to see what their criteria is for approval. My surgery was delayed because I didn't know my insurance required a 6 month physician supervised diet and exercise program. Also, from what I have heard more and more of them are requiring this. If you know what is needed going in it's to your benefit. Good Luck and God Bless!!

The same thing happened to me, I ended up just doing 4 months of the physcian supervised program when I appealed Aetna's decision and I was approved based on my HP. I did not have HB when they first denied me. It took a total of 9 months for me. It was definitely worth the trouble though. Hope yours is faster. Good luck Christine

I would say give the insurance company a call and ask questions. Hopefully, they will give you some answers regardless of whether you have the policy in hand or not. Have you tried their website? I know when our renewal process comes around every year they send us links to review each company before we finalize our decision. Maybe that is an option for more info. Good luck and welcome to our lil corner of the internet. Amy

I would agree that the first step should be to contact the insurance company. That will atleast send you in the right direction. Since you said you have chaasen the Dr. you should contact him or her. The Doctors sometimes have their own requirements so that you atleast head in the right direction. You could also post who the doctor is, you may find some people here that have had the same doctor.
