Out of work, need help...
Good day to all...
I have been out of work for an injury about 4 weeks now and am having troubles paying my bills...does anyone know who I can talk to about assistance here in FL? We are not poor by any means, yet because of the loss of income we are slipping behind in all of our bills.
Please let me know if someone out there knows of any programs here that may be able to assist.
Thank you,
Nealy
Nealy,
Not sure where you are but have you tryed a neiborhood service center or social workers through your county? I know Mid-florida here in our county helps with electric bill once a year. Also catholic cherities will help out some situations. Not sure if any of these are in your area hope this helps a little. If you want email me I can try to find numbers for you.

Nealy,
I am so sorry you hurt yourself and have lost your job. I will assume you dont qualify for unemployment?
I have a few suggestions (not programs, but they might help anyway if you havent already thought of them):
Contact your credit card companies and utilities companies to see if you can push back your due date one month. You cant do this if you are already behind, but sometimes they will work with you if you call to let them know you lost your job and need a little more time. You can defer a mortgage or car payment. Another way to raise money is to have a yard sale, you get rid of junk and make a few extra dollars. You could also sell coffee and donuts, lemonade and brownies or cookies during the yard sale to help raise even more money. My sister did this after her divorce, the kids ran the "coffee shop" and she made a coffee cake and bought some donuts to sell. I know this next suggestion is probably controversial, but sometimes one of my employees has to get a payday loan and I think she pays about a $50 fee for a $500 loan that she has to pay back in two weeks. You just cant get caught up in relaying on that every two weeks or it's a vicious cycle. I've heard horror stories about that happening.
I hope things turn around quickly for you. Good luck

Thanks to all who have posted. I am not sure when my hubbie is gonna get paid, he is self employed and paychecks dont come regular. I will check out some of the local dept here, but I am almost positive we will not qualify for any program as we have 3 vehicles and a boat. (all of course have a payment attached) I wi**** was as easy as just selling one of them for a few extra bucks. I like the idea of a yard sale but the main bill I am concerned about is the mortgage which is over $900.
Thanks again for your thoughts!
Nealy
