Definitly no gravy or butter on the potatos, but you probably will be ok with runny instant mashed potatos. Think of it as potato soup! I also had a saltine and a teaspoon of smooth peanut butter when I was 2 weeks post op. Gravy is such a high fat diet buster. I would avoid it altogether forever! Kallen

At two weeks I was starting tuna and chicken,, I would put it in the mini food processor with some fat free cream of chick soup,, it was yummy,,,, also cottage cheese,,, I still dont like cottage cheese too much, but I tried it, just be careful when trying new foods,,, always double check with your nutritionalist too for advice,, good luck,,, Christy

Hi, i know all drs are different in what they have their patients eat but my dr wants us to eat protein.....chicken, fish, cheese, eggs, cottage cheese. I haven't had my surgery yet, its scheduled for sept 1st, but i've been asking other post ops their fave foods. I also know everyone's taste will be different after surgery but always great to have optional food ideas. I've heard alot of people saying they eat boarshead sandwich meats spread lightly with cream cheese then rolled up. Also if you have a crunchy crave.....pork rinds will do the trick. For eating cottage cheese, i add s/f jello to it to give it taste. Also for chicken, shrimp etc use marinades to help keep it moist since no drinking with eating. Just a few helpful hints, if anyone else has any please share. Tammy ps congrats on the wl :0)

Shari, what does your surgeon say you can have. Some have you on liquids for a month, some are starting pureed foods at two weeks, what "stage" are you in, liquids, pureed, soft foods, anything?
