Hi! I had my staples removed on Thursday. Now, the botton inch of my incision is opening up a bit. I would say it is about 1/4 of an inch. It is not deep at all, but it is seeping terribly. I am keeping guaze on it all the time. Any opinions on this? Thanks, Paige

Hi Paige, I had the same thing and It ended up getting a little infected and they put me to sleep to clean and a month later It is still being PACKED by a home nurse daily. My point is plese call your doctor and see what they think. Good luck Lizz

Hi Paige, Agree with Liz. Probaly a superficial wound infection. Call your MD and get it taken care of to prevent bigger problems. Take care. Feel better

My surgeon told me that it was normal for the incision to ooze and even separate a little after the staples are removed. Of course you want to check with your doctor, but if it's just a small amount, you're probably ok. Hope that helps!

Please call you doc on Monday and tell him about the amount of separation and oozing. Actually it is better that all of the fluid is draining out rather than building up behind your healed areas. keep the area covered and clean to help prevent an infection, also keep an eye on the surrouunding skin to make sure it does not appear red and angry ( that would also call for a phone call to the doc)
