Question regarding Lap Band

Hi All, Just wondering for those who have had the Lap Band if there has been much success with the weight loss? My insurance company (Great West) covers the gastic bypass but I haven't checked with them about the Lap Band procedure. I'm leaning more towards this procedure for several different reasons but I have reservations because I have heard stories that people have lost very little weight. Would love to hear from anyone who has had it done to ask advice. Thanks. Lisa

Lisa, check out the Lap Band board, but make sure you do all the reseach, I hear a lot of mis quoted statistics on htese boards. People tend to embellish the stats for the surgery they chose and and demena the surgery they didn't. Lap Banders will tell they surgery is more successfull, and RNY patients will tell you their surgery is more successfull. Now having said all of that, I will start your confusion, I had RNY, what all the statistics I respect, RNY patients lose 65 percent of their excess weight, lap banders lose 35 percent of their excess weight.
