interesting day

So, I had an interesting day yesterday.  I went with my family to Sky King in Cocoa to get fireworks for the 4th.  I was ok during the ride there, had a busy morning and didn't have time to eat so I was snacking on Turkey Pepperoni and a light cheese stick on the ride there. We also stopped so hubby could get some boiled peanuts in the way and I had a few of those, it was about 1pm or so.  Anyways, since I didn't have any water, I thought I could drink a gatorade and did so during the drive.  Once we got there and I got out of the car, I started feeling very tired and sluggish feeling.  I got into the store and about 15 mins later started to feel like I was going to pass out.  I told my husband that I needed to sit down somewhere and then all of a sudden I broke out into a cold sweat, he grabbed my hand and we very quickly walked to the door, while doing so I started to get a very loud noise in my ears, don't really remember much except that once we hit the door, I fell to the ground.  I knew people were around me telling me to drink the water.  They started to put cold towels on my neck and cold bottles of water on my face.  I started to feel a little better and my color came back in my face.  My hands, legs starting doing like a tingling vibration feeling.  I had no nausea or cramping.  I don't know if this was just an anxiety issue because the store was crowded but the last time I felt like this was at the flea market.  Same thing, ok during the drive, had about 8 oz of gatorade, got out of the truck and felt very tired and sluggish but left before the pass out episode.
I am wondering if maybe the gatorade was too much sugar for me since this is twice although the first one was not as bad.  Today, I am feeling very scared to venture out anywhere.  I was sitting here and getting heart palpitations, dizziness feeling.  I try to get enough water in but it's hard. It usually takes me 8 hours to drink 16 ozs. If I drink more water, I can't eat but a bite or two of food then I am miserable.

Way too much sugar girl!!!  Try the propel added to your water bottle.  You Have to keep hydrated its way too hot it will happen very quick with the heat.  Take your water everywhere and always always pack a lunch bag with extra water, fiber bars or almonds.
I found this the hard way I have passed out a few times.  Hypoglycemic about an hour after I eat the blood sugar crashes and I get all dizzy.  It seems to happen when I'm out and about and don't eat on time.  So I still after 2.5 years out take my lunch box everytime I leave the house.
So this could have been dumping or the crash in blood sugar.  It spikes up after you have carbs and then crashes, thats what Dr Jawad told me anyways.  I was never nauseous either.
One trick I used is to set your alarm on your cell phone.  I worked 9 to 4 so I set it for 9:15 and then hit snooze every 3 or 5 minutes to train myself to drink constantly.  I would stop it before lunch and then restart 30 minutes after lunch.  It really helped train my brain to drink constantly.   Good Luck!! Toni

Tammy, a serving of Gatorade has 14 grams of sugar, a quart bottle of Gatorade is four servings, so if you drank a quart of Gatorade, you had a56 grams of sugar.  What you experienced was bottoming out or hypo glycemia, your sugar dropped.  Just consider it a life lesson and don't do it again.

When in doubt, read the label.  I am six years out and I still read labels.

Thank you for the replies.  I had only drank about 8-12 ounces or so of the gatorade but anyways, yep it was the culprit.  I will never do that again because it embarassed me to no end, everyone was staring at me.  I thought that it would have been ok because that's what I drank right after surgery and it never affected me that way, but I guess that since I am now eating food and not just the liquids its different now.  I had water with me but it was frozen and my hubby was fussing at me to drink the gatorade because he felt that I was not getting enough hydration.  Well guess what?  He'll never fuss at me to drink it again.  I'm so lucky I had him with me.  I'm going to stick with water, crystal light or even the lo-cal gatorade.
