Losing weight on insulin????
I am scheduled for surgery , in Tampa, on 8/17. I have been on insulin for over 10 years. I have taken just about every type of insulin on the market. When I was going through my clearance exams by Dr. ****e for Dr. Murr, and she explained to me that after you have been on insulin for a while it becomes harder and harder to lose weight. I hope that this helps.
hi lizz, i have a big concern about losing the weight and being on insulin, because insulin is a steroid i'm afraid it's next to impossible to lose.so when i have the surgery i'm going off insulin. not that i'm suggesting you do it thats just the way i feel. i am so afraid that if i start losing weight and taking insulin my sugar level will drop too low and i'll go into low bs iv'e been there before and don't want to go there again it's so scary. i have been on insulin for 12 years. 100 cc's of nph + 22 units of r in the am and 32 units of nph + 12 units of r in the pm. i have a friend that was on a lot of insulin and like me a few pills for me it's 23 pills and at least 2 to 4 sots a day. don't worry we will get throught his and triumph. hang in there. brenda
Hi Brenda, I just wanted you to know I was a Diabetic before I had my wls on March 22nd 2004, I was doing Insuline shots 4x a day and still running high sugars of 340's or better , This all changed after I had my rny, the Diabetis was gone! It was a miracle for me, I was so tired of doing the shots and it made me very depressed, Now I am doing great I have lost a little over 80 pounds already and feel wonderful. If I never lost a pound after this surgery ,Just not being a Diabetic anymore has made it all worth it! there is a great chance it will go away forever..
keep the faith!
