Any Local Groups??

Hi Everyone, I had open RNY in Jacksonville in Dec. 1999 and have lost a total of 158 pounds. Doing great! I currently live in Orlando and have been looking for a support group close by. I could drive to Tampa, Clearwater etc. If anyone has any info it would be much appreciated!! Thanks so much! Donna

Donna, There is an informal group meeting this Saturday night at the Cracker Barrel at I-4 and Kirkman at 6pm. I am going to try to attend that one. There are a few other groups that meet monthly and post to the board when they are scheduled. Amy

Donna, it's a little bit of a drive, but there is a support group meeting at Morton Plant Hospital, the second Saturday of each month from 10:00a.m. to noon, and the forth Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. If you are interested let me know and I'll get you more information.

Donna there is a meeting in Ocala Fl next thursday at 630 at the Marion county Health department....It is an informal meeting... My wife's anniversary of wls surgery is that day. One year and a loss of 82 lbs. I am waiting on my 5th and 6th month for CIGNA to approve mine...

Celebration Health Hospital support group is the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 730pm. All post ops are welcome. Very structured.

I am in South Florida (Broward County) and am pre-op. I would be interested in attending local meetings here, as well, if anyone knows of any here? I am trying to prepare myself as best as possible for the upcoming "journey". Thanks, Tricia

Hi Patricia, and welcome! I'm in Broward too. The two places I know of that have meetings are US Bariatrics (4th Tuesday of the month from 7-8:30 pm at the Sister Innocent Conference Center at Holy Cross Hospital), and Cleveland Clinic Weston, though I don't know when/where those are. Hi Donna, I am new to the Fl Board and just read your post. We have a support group that meets in Orl. every third monday. You are more than welcome to join us. Our surgeon is in Melbourne and we meet there the first Wed. of every month too. You are not required to be a patient of his to attend.
