Baritric surgeon in Central Fl

Does anyone have the name of a Bariatric surgeon in the Central Florida area? If you could let me know if you like them or if you heard good or bad. I have a friend who would like to find out more about this surgery and she lives in the Central Florida area. I had it done and now lost 141 lbs. but my surgeon is in Miami (Patricia Byers~~ recommended HIGHLY) but this is too much of a drive for her. Thank you! Hope to hear from you! Teresa

Have your friend join and chat with us, there is lots of support on here There are two doctors in Ocala (Jawad and Overcash), a doctor in Kissimmee at US Bariatrics (Dr. Kim) and I recently heard someone is now doing surgery in Daytona or New Syrmna. Have your friend look on the main Florida page under surgeons for more info and their phone numbers. Lots of people from Central FL area drive to their surgeons since there isnt anyone doing surgery in the Orlando area. Also, there is a support group meeting in Lake Mary at 7pm tomorrow night if she wants to come to that to talk to others, pre and post op. Take care, Amy

My wife had Dr Jawad do hers on July 29th 2003 and she is doing wonderful.. down 83 lbs.. I am in ther process of having him do mine also.. I have to wait until september to get my stuff sent to CIgna...

There is a Doctor with Priveliges at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona, and when I was looking there was a guy in Port Orange but he did not do the Surgrey local. I have also heard at the Celebration Hospital by Disney there may be a Doctor. I personnelly selected the WISH Center in Tampa, Its only a 2 Hour Drive and There are some really close by hotels that are pretty cheap... J Nadeau Open RNY 5/27/04 -57lbs

Teresa, Dr. Keith Kim is the doctor at Celebration (US Bariatrics), I said Kissimmee but should have been more specific. I attended two of the info sessions and was impressed with their program, but they were out of network and it would have cost me a lot more out of pocket expense so I went with another doctor. I am happy with my selection and havent had any complications (knock wood). Good luck to your friend Amy
