My surgery date is Aug 2. We are moving in Dec to Hawaii. Just wondering if i will be pretty much alot better and able to help move. We are military so they are going to be physically moving us, but we do have to go through stuff and seperate.

Christy, how lucky you are to be moving to Hawaii. I would guess you would be OK, but check with your doctor. One good thing you do not have to do the packing! I remember those days Good luck to you! BTW, my surgery will be 8/3. Marla

Hi Christy, I noticed you are Tricare Prime, same as us, my husband is medically retired. Would you mind telling me who you found as a surgeon? I am still on the prowl, our hospital here in Ft. Myers has WLS on hold for time being and of course that is the only hospital my dr. was operating out of....now I must go out of town and was wondering who you chose? BTW I think you will be okay from what I have heard from others who are back to work after 2 weeks, out walking as well so as long as they are packing up things and moving them out and your not doing lifting, I think you will be okay. Just don't overdo it.

Ginny, I see you are asking about tricare prime. One of the leaders of our support group is retired military with tricare prime. He was pre-approved, before he started the procedure, and from start date to surgery date, less than 40 days. His surgeon is Dr. Barry Haicken, in Largo.

Christy, you will be at least months postop by the time you move, you should not have any problems. Remember everyone is different, but by 6 weeks, I could have packed, loaded the truck, unloaded the truck and unpacked all in the same day, I felt so good, and was healed. Good luck.
