Blue Cross Federal

I have heard that blue cross is going to stop paying for the WLS as of January 2005. My husband has called our insurance, which is BC/BS Federal. He has called twice to ask about this and both times they have told them that they will still be paying for it. So, now I'm wondering is it just BC of Florida? Anyone have any experience with this? By the way, hi everyone.......I am new here and have lots of questions. Thanks, Wanda

Hi Wanda. The federal gov't [Office of Personnel Mgmt] mandates that any insurance carrier who wants to insure federal employees must provide WLS coverage. So when you hear BlueCross or someone else say they are no longer going to cover WLS, they are not talking about insurance companies under FEHBP. They are most likely talking about private-sector employers. Hope this helps.
