Dr. Althar Milton FL Need info

Hello, I am hoping to have WLS. The doctor that my family physician is referring me to is Dr. Althar in Milton Florida. I would like to find out if anyone has had any dealings with him or knows anything at all about him. I have checked out his reviews and there are only like 6 of them. I really would like to get more opinions of him as this is a very serious surgery and I want to make sure that I am going to a good doctor. Thanks for any help you can give me.

I know he doesnot take Medicaid. I will ask at work tomorrow andletu know. I am a case manager - RN and the other nurses that i work with can tell me as far as utilization reviews. Angie

Wanda, My husband and I considered using Dr. Althar for our surgeon, but after looking closely at his experience we decided he just didn't have enough experience for this surgery. He only started doing WLS in the last 2 years or so and I personally was not comfortable with that. My surgeon is Dr. David Nye in Pensacola and he has done somewhere around 2000 surgeries. I was comfortable with him the moment I met him. There used to be a very long wait to get into see Dr. Nye, but that isn't true anymore. My appointment was less than 2 weeks from the time I called. I haven't known anyone personally who used Dr. Althar, but I do know a LOT of people who used Dr. Nye and all had wonderful things to say about him. In the end the decision is yours, but please do the research and be sure YOU are comfortable with the surgeon. Good Luck to you!! Erica Hugs
