Hi Mady: I am 1 week away from my surgery and I have gleaned alot from other post ops and friends who have already been there. I have the following: robe slippers/thongs that are non slip and I can just get in them without trying to bend over. body pillow ( bad back ) carmex for lips loose dress for the ride home brush walkman seek and find book camera sf gum sf hard candy for a dry mouth relaxation CD footies/ socks for cold tootsies small fan, I will be on heparin shots photo album from home It is way too much but I figure better too much than not enough. Blessings on your butterfly changes!! ~Tina~

I would add 2 items: sleep mask (for when the nurses come in and turn on the light, they won't wake you up) and long-handled wooden spoon to wrap wipes or toilet paper around (for help with reaching after going to the bathroom)

hi Erika...thanks for your response..by sleep mask do you mean blindfolds??? that is a very good idea...i sleep most of the time with them on b/c I'm very sensitive to light and can't even sleep with the light of my alarm clock (it really sucks!!). Let me ask you...where can I find the spoon for the bathroom...thats another good idea...Tina's ideas were good also...thanks for your response Erika...good luck on you upcoming surgery...i'll also email you to see how your doing... take care...Mady

Yes, a blindfold. I'd take yours with you, because the nurses always turn on the lights in your eyes at night when they come in to check on you. I found my spoon at WalMart. Hugs, Erika

hey Erika...did you get my email?? I know this might sound dumb...but about that spoon, was it in the bathroom stuff section or in the health and beauty section...Walmart is just so big...i don't want to run around like a nutty chicken in there..LOL thanks again.. hugs, Mady

Yes, I got it. Check your email, I sent you one back. I just bought a wooden spoon from the kitchen utensil section with the longest handle I could find. I also found a back sponge in the health and beauty section that has a long handle that would work. You could also use the sponge, so you wouldn't have to bend or stretch when you take a shower. Hugs, Erika

Mady, I took bare minimums, and I did not want for anything. I was either sleeping, up walking, or watching a little tv, mostly sleeping due to the pain meds. To make it easy, I went home in same clothes I went there in. I also took; a pair of tongs for toilet paper a pair of slip on slippers toiletries chapstick a couple of pairs of shorts, no robe or pajama, I just wore their gowns, they covered everything. a book, that I never read I didn't need or want a fan Like I said, if I was not up walking, I was sleeping. Good luck.
