Hey Steff, From reading your posting it sounds like your not getting enough protein, but im no expert im stil pre-op. I go in 8/11/04.. Your body goes into starvation mode if you dont maintain enough calories. You would think the less you eat the better but that is not true. Of course if you eat to much that blows it too so there is a fine line. What I really want to talk to you if about being a copper. I have been in law enforcement and firefighting for the past 15 years. When i started i was young and tough and now after baby and putting on more pounds im still tough but slowwwwwwwwweeeeeeeeedddd way down by my weight and that is why im getting gastric bipass. As far as your adgility test you just have to start running every day. Start with a block and work your way up. Do line sprints. Like 50 feet back and forth. Its tough but guess what LE is tough and it does not get any easier. Be prepared for the macho attidutue of men in law enforecement looking down on you not just for being a women but compounded but the fact that your are a overweight women. They pick on the chubby men horribly they will only due it behind your back. You need to prove to them you belong but not give in to peer pressure or doing that in the wrong ways. In the police academy you will have to run everyday and do defensive tactics, and weapons training. You need to have stamina to complete these things. If you really, really, really, want to do this you can. Hit the gym and start building muscle. I am a women of size and still can legg press the whole stack (over 450lbs of weights). Just becasue your not a size 5 does not mean you cant be tough and handle your self. After i had my girl the a-hole in the police department were to much plus the switching of shifts every four months, and the constant pressure from everyone on arrest quotas and every thing was high stress forget about even routine calls are protential death traps. I had already complete the fire academy prior to being a police officer and getting fat so i switched career to firedepartment. I had to an adgility there that was really tough and timed. I got through it and am a lt in the deparment today. I actually can beat my original time by 8 minutes. It called the combat challenge. Its tough. So email me if you need anything and eat more exercise more arleen

Steffanie, Arleen is right! You are not eating enough to move the scale. You also need to eat more protein to prevent your body from breaking down your muscles. I am glad to see you are trying to get protein in, but you are not getting in enough. I was told a minimum of 75g so I shoot for 80g+. Find out from your doctor what your protein intact should be, but I am sure it is more than what you are getting in daily. Do you drink protein shakes or eat protein bars? Two of those a day can give you at least 40 g of protein, sometimes even more depending on the brand. I ordered a ton of samples online and am testing them to find the ones I can tolerate the best. So far I like Elite brand Chocolate and Proplete Banana *******so like Strive and Trioplex protein bars as my snacks thru out the day. I just picked up a few more types from GNC last night to try, but online the prices seem better unless you can catch a sale at GNC. I admire your desire to go into Law Enforcement, better you than me as I am a big chicken LOL. I think going back to the basics with the liquid diet is good to kick start your weight loss, jus****ch to make sure you are getting enough in. I know you want to be faster, but you also need to be stronger and have more energy too for your success. Keep us posted

Stephanie, you have lost 40 pounds in two months, that's normal weight loss for a woman, (men lose faster, sorry), especially one with a low BMI of 45, so don't beat yourself up for not losing faster. I do agree that you should be eating more, minimun 60 grams of protein a day, and 1000 calories. TO burn fat you have to fuel your body, and the more you excercise the more you need to eat. Also make sure you are drinking plenty of water, water helps us lose weight also. Good luck.

40 lbs in 2 months is awsome... think about " could i have done this any other way" and your prbley saying no.. causeif you could have you would nt have had sugery... ok... your protien looks way low... like they said 80+ a day... you might not be eating enough.. or your might just beon a platue...go back to liquids for a few days to see if it breaks it..about building up leg strenth.... try doing squats.. leg lifts and lots of streaching... for enduance.. just run...you will do fine... and if yu dont make it this time around.. you will make it the next time... good luck lexa
