I am really stumped. Does anyone know any Nutrionist in South FL that accept United Health Care Insurance. All the Nutritionist I have talked to are asking for 200-300 dollars. I am now in a financial crunch and Uhhhhhhhhh I am so frustrated. I want this process to come to a finale, my surgery date. Please help someone. Dee

Call the office of Dr. Cox (954)928-0066, a bariatric surgeon in Ft. Lauderdale and ask for the contact info for the nutritionist they use. I'm not sure if the nutritionist takes United Health, but it can't hurt to ask! Good Luck, Erika L

Have you tried calling your local hospitals and ask to speak to their nutritionist. I have cigna hmo and went to Florida Hospital South in Orlando. I used one of their nutritionist on staff, Meredith Luce. She was willing to meet me at Celebration or Fl South whichever was closer to me.She was able to see me in less than a week after I first contacted her. I registered in outpt registration and they called my insurance company and got it approved while I was there. If the hospital takes your insurance then you should be able to see their nutritionist.Even if they don't take your ins or your ins refuses to pay Florida Hospital was going to give me a cash discount and it would have been around $100. I pressured them to call the ins and remind them this was their requirement for the surgery and after 30 minutes it was authorized. My PCP should have got it preauthorized but thought writing a referal was good enough. So be sure to check that out too. The dietician was very knowledgable and spent almost 2 hours with me and gave me handouts and her email to contact her after with any questions. she wrote the referal and had it transcribed that afternoon. She mailed me a copy and faxed one to my PCP and Surgeon. Long story short the hospital billed for the ins. for the visit. I had actually called ORMC also and their nutrionist was also willing to see me and the hospital would bill the insurance. Hope this helps. Best of luck to you.
