Wow Maris!  What great info and responses.

You and I must live double lives, same work, same travel, same volunteer schedule. :)  Although I might travel a little more about 1/3 of my time is spent traveling for work. ;)

LOL well, I used to have the following jokes about my schedule - You know you work for (my employer) when...

You know the people at the airline check-in desk better than your neighbors
The cumulative miles on your rental vehicles are quadruple the ones that you've put on your own car
You forget your home doesn't have built-in maid service, and wonder why the bed doesn't make itself and the towels don't magically get changed

Thankfully when the economy tanked, my company clamped down on expenses - so I only traveled about 7 weeks last year (waaaay down from the year before when I spent 6 months out of the country).  Having the break really helped after the surgery with adjusting to my new 'normal'.

Good luck with your surgery - it comes around so fast!  You're in excellent hands, but feel free to drop me a note if you have any questions or just need a friendly ear to complain to!

LOL the razzing at my company is to tease the new hires that haven't made it to Medallion status yet and have to sit in Coach.

LOL then you MUST go see "Up in the Air".  Some things in that movie only road warriors will ever understand (of course, drooling over George Clooney is an added bonus)!

Yes, I was just approved today.  Now i have to wait for someone to call me to let me know which clearances i will need.  Amanda said this would be in 7-10 days.  I have to drive from Deltona to Celebration, but it is worth it to me!  I have a friend that had rny a few months ago from Dr. Beltre, but I don't really have any info on him.  She is doing well though.  I do know he wasn't as strict as Dr. Kim, and the aftercare didn't seem to be anything like what Dr. Kim has to offer.  Sorry I don't have any more info. Best wishes to you all!   Deanne

Deanee, Congrats on getting approved. I am so looking forward to that day. I think often of what it will feel like to know the surgery is close. It is a day I have been looking forward to for a long time. Please keep us updated as to your progrss over the coming weeks! I can't wait to hear how it all goes.

Taylor,
Thanks!  I am excited and nervous at the same time.  This has been such a long process.  I feel like the day will never get here, and at the same time I am grateful for this process.  I will keep you posted, and you do the same!  take care :)

I do not know anything about this surgeon.  But, gee whiz, you are going to let having to drive across town be a factor in who operates on you?  Surgery is serious business.  I went all the way to Omaha Nebraska because that is where the best surgeon was.  A drive across town would have been a day at the beach!

Taylor, you really should go see Dr. Kim. His office isn't that far when you consider it's literally right off of I4. I live practically in Altamonte and it takes me about 35 minutes to get there. He did my RNY surgery 10 days ago. Go with a sure thing. Dr. Kim is considered tops in this field not just in Florida, not just in the US, but in the world!!!!

Hi,

I am going to Dr. Weir for my surgery, he is a partner with Dr. Radulescue.  My husband and I went to the seminar and were very impress with them.  I had to see a cardiologist and he recommended Dr. Weir.  I have a very good experience with them.   I have not had my surgery yet, I am in the process of getting approve. The staff is great to work with and Nadia the nut is wonderful!  They made me feel very comfortable.  When I got there for my appointment, I spoke to another patient and they had nothing but great things to say about Dr. Weir.  After speaking to Dr. Weir, for me, it was a great fit.  I have been looking into this for six months and know of people that went to Ocala and Celebration.  In fact, I sent an email requesting information if they accept my insurance, and they never returned my email.

This is a big decision and you must be comfortable with your surgeon.  Again, for me I really liked Dr. Weir and his staff.

Good luck.
