Protein????
Hi I am 4-days post-op. second day home and finding it hard to get in all the protein in the amount I was told to take in. Does anyone have any good receipts for high protein/sm quantity? I have a few that my dietian gave me that are good but it is still hard to get in enough during the day. Any information will be appreciated.
I am pre-op but I find that the Slim Fast Protein Shakes (not to be confused with their usual shakes) aren't that big and you can probably get a can down if you space it out over a few hours. It will get you 20g of protein. You can also add some protein powder to that if you like.
They also taste really good. Better than most shakes I have tried!
Hi Valerie-
Let's see.... Get some Atkins shakes, I find them easiest to go down. Sip 2 oz every 30 minutes. You will have 20 gms of protein in about 6 hours. I added natural protein powder to lowfat cream soups also. When you get on full liquids...sugar free pudding w/2 scoops of protein powder, w/2 cups of CarbCountdown milk it comes out to 14 gms of protein for 4 oz. These first 2 weeks..concentrate on keeping hydrated....at about 2 weeks post up, really start concentrating on the protein intake.
Best of luck!

Hi. I use Isopure zero carb clear. It contains 40 gms of protein in 20 oz of fluid. It is not a shake. It comes in a glass bottle and you drink it cold. Pour out a few ounces at a time and keep the rest in the refrig. The alpine punch is the best I think. I bought it a GNC but call ahead to be sure they have it. I am 6 months out from Doudenal Switch surgery and could not have had enough protein intake for the first 4-5 months with out this drink! Laura P
Hi!
Amen to your last reply from Laura. The Isopure are kick butt! No asparatame, and 40 grams of fat free, sugar free 100% pure whey isolate protein. It doesnt get any better than this. They are good flavors, and not a milky shake. It's kind of like punch or Kool-Aid! It's a great way to get your protein without feeling like your going to gag or puke!
Plus if your lactose intolerant, it solves that issue, too.
Best of Luck,
Gabriella
