I really need to know if there is a support group in the Jacksonville area. I'm cerrently in Ohio waiting to have a date set for my surgery. I will be moving to Florida sometime between the start of May and the middle of June. The soon I find out about this the better, since I am unsure if my surgeon will do the opperation if there is not a support group down there that I can get to.

Hello there, I am in Jacksonville and still in the very beginning of the journey. I, myself have not found a support group in town. Although, since finding this website I dont really think I need anything else. There is sooooo much information here its almost overwhelming. I have talked to lots of people on here so far who have given me the best advice and answered questions promptly. Good Luck in finding what your looking for though. Michelle, 23, 340lbs+ pre-op

Thank you for the message, it helps me to know that there is some one in the area that I will be living in who is also going through with this kind of operation.

Patrick The Jacksonville Area Bariatric Support group meets monthly at the Embassy Suites on Baymeadows Road. The next meeting is Sunday March 14th at 2:00pm. All pre and post ops are welcomed... I understand the guest speaker will be a chef who has had RNY and will sharing various cooking tips for post-ops. There are always pre and post ops in attendance who have had or are planning to have DS, RNY or Lap Band. Welcome to Jacksonville..... Home of next years Superbowl.....Charlie

Patrick, I belong to two support grps in Jacksonville. One is held ever 2 tues of the month at memorial hospital (its for DR. Webb's patients) But they do not care if you are a patient of his or not. If you need more info on that support grp you can call 904-215-8484 and ask for susan williams or you can email them at www.lapwls.com just let them know kim gallagher refered you. I also belong to a support grp that meets ever 3 saturday in Orange Park, which is part of Jacksonville. This grp is made up from old and new pre and post ops with several different doctors. If you would like any additional info please contact me at [email protected] and i will try to help set you up with someone in that meeting that might be able to help. Good luck Kim pre op 8 days and counting
