Is a WLS seminar requested?

I'm still trying to get referral letter from pcp to send to surgeon, (which will probably be on the other coast). I know I'll be asked to go to a seminar on gastric bypass surgery. Can I go NOW to a "local" one in my area by a different surgeon and have this count as my WLS seminar even if a different surgeon is doing the surgery?

My surgical group requested I attend their seminar to make sure I got the information that they wanted me to have. But if youa re having to travel a long distance, they might count any WLS seminar if they are familiar with the surgeon and his practices and care programs. ~ T.
