I would like to introduce myself
Hi Everyone, I have been following these boards for a few months now, but this is my first post. I really didn't want to start posting until I was sure I was going to be able to go through with WLS. I started seriously looking into WLS in August, and I am very fortunate that everything went very smoothly for me and I was approved by my insurance company in 4 days! I am planning on Dr. Michel Murr to do my procedure LAP RNY the first week of January (no sense not enjoying the holiday's). I am 35 and live in Tampa. Would love to get to know some of you!
Lori
Hi Lori,
Preop was a breeze..They take blood, do an Xray, pee in a cup and then you meet with Jose who will go over everything. That's it.
I am eating puree foods..tuna, cream soups, s/f pudding and jello.
I saw Jose, Dr Murr and Jennifer today for my post op appt and I have lost 26 lbs. I hope to lose 140 more.
Let me know when your surgery is.
Best wishes
Hi Lori,
Thats wonderful news! I too am having my procedure with Dr. Murr on November 19th. Of course I am a bundle of nerves but have much support from my fiance' and family. I just wi**** were closer because I am so ready. I have been investigating this for a year now and it took me 4 months to get through all the 'red tape'. I was lucky just like you though when it came to insurance- 3 days for my approval! Do you live in the Tampa area? I would love to chat with you.
Jennifer- Wow only a couple of weeks till your surgery! You must be going nuts! I live in South Tampa, right near the airforce base. I probably could have been right with you doing the surgery in November, but due to my husbands work schedule with vacation, I am going to wait till the first week of January. I am waiting on a call from Martha to get a definite date. What pre-op was involved for you?? Any additional testing???
How old are you? Any kids? I am 35, married and have a 3 year old daughter.
Lori
Hi Lori,
Yes 'nuts' is definately a good word to describe me! I am completely freaking out both in a good and bad way(does that make sense)? I am very nervous about the surgery yet I am so excited to start my new life.
I will just keep praying everything will go well and I will have no complications. I have not had my pre-op yet, it is scheduled for Nov 12th, but I believe it is a blood and urine test and some x-rays. When Martha scheduled me I was pushing for the earliest date possible so I am kinda glad that I will go into the new year "on the losing side".
I live in the New Tampa area, actually just moved there. I am 32 yrs old and engaged to be married next year. We have a 9 yr old daughter. I am busy moving into our new home that we just had built(good timing, huh)? But at least I can do some things now and then have some recovery time after the surgery. Well I hope we can someday meet and talk about our experiences.
Take care
Jennifer
Hi Jennifer, my name is Marla and live in Zephyrhills. Moved here little over year ago from New Tampa. My daughter and family live there and just bought a new home, their second in NT.
I am also just starting my pre-op with Dr Murr. Have my psy apt on Fri, 11/7. Most of my paper work has been completed. I was going to a doctor in Dade City/Zephyrhills, however, my insurance would not cover LapBand. That is the only type he preforms. No date for apt with Dr Murr as of today. I have to complete his forms, then wait for an apt.
You are a wise lady to have your surgery now. I waited 3 years to start mine. I am also 63, so a bit!! older than you. If I had it to do over, I would have gone when my PCP recommended. But, It is never too late!
Good luck to you..
Marla
