RNY scheduled for 10/7 @ Celebration - anyone else?
I'm doing mine with Dr Kim in Celebration...... I'm a little nervous, excited, stressed, worried, happy, etc.... you know the routine.
I'm on the presurgery diet now for 7 days and it hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be.... although I have been craving su****oday (I always used to get it on Fridays). It still feels really weird not sitting down and eating a plate of food - that's definitely going to be weird for me.

I am also using Dr. Kim but just started 6 month dr diet plan so have not met him yet. He couldnt be at the seminar so I met his office staff. I am waiting to hear back from his office about my insurance. Its been two weeks so I am sure I will hear from them soon. Did you like Dr. Kim when you met him? How long did it take you to get a surgery date? Good luck to you!! take care Maria
I first met Dr Kim last Dec at one of the seminars they have..... that was the month I started my 6 month dr diet plan. He seemed genuinely nice and very knowledgable. Before you can have surgery scheduled you'll need to attend one of the support group meetings that is immediately after the intro seminars they give each month - you can go early and meet him then. When I went to the support meeting in July he was actually the facilitator for that meeting.
Hang in there with the insurance, mine required the 6 month Dr montiored diet but as soon as I sent the paperwork to Dr Kim's office they filed everything right away & I got an approval letter 3 weeks later.
After my approval, I met with one of his nurses and she sent me a list of the required pre-surgery tests I needed (included a chest x-ray, pulmonary clearance, EKG, and a letter from my Dr stating that I was medically stable for surgery). Once I faxed them all the results from my tests on 9/16 I got a call from his office 2 days later on 9/18 and they gave me the 10/7/09 surgery date. It seemed really quick.... my pre-op appt with Dr Kim is this week - it'll be the first time I meet with him 1:1 - I'll let you know how that goes.
Good luck - and let me know if you have any questions. :)

Hey, thanks for responding to my post.....what is your name? how old are you? I am 46 years old, and have two children, Rachel 19 and Christopher 14. I weigh 329 pounds and am disgusted with myself. I so hope the time goes by quickly for the 6 month thing, I have made up my mind, and now I just want to have it done already.....I wish you all the luck in the world, and I know you will do great. I hope to talk with you again. Maria
I am a single mom also. I would love to keep in touch! I just started on this site last week, I think. I have learned so much in so little time. People here are very nice. I cant wait to come home from work and read all the posts. Its funny, I never used to spend any time on the computer, now I read and an hour can go by so quickly. Its pretty amusing. You take care and I hope to speak to you soon. Maria
