Although I'm live in SC, my neice lives in Fla. and has been turned down by her ins. company, Humana. And I was just trying to find out if anyone here knows of what she could possibly do. She's recurrent rashes and al that goes along with the loose skin. And suggestions would be welcomed.

First off she can try to appeal the decision by calling the insurance and getting the specific reason for denial. Then she may be able to correct it from there. Or, she can call her insurer and ask specifically when and if they ever cover that type of surgery. In most cases that I've heard of, it is understood by the insurance carrier that such a necessary surgery is required as a result of the WLS. Thus, it is like a further treatment so they usually pay. I know people who were denied 3 times before being approved. Mercy Roberts
