I live in Navarre but I am in the process for lap band with Dr. Lord at Sacred Heart in Pensacola.  What do you need to know?  Good luck.

Hey there. Ok. I have so many questions. Like what is the doc like? Whats his bedside manner? Does he take time to answer questions? Is he friendly or condescending? What is his staff like? What about the hospital, are the preped for obese patients? Like large wheel chairs and such? What are your concerns and were they addressed? How are you likeing Dr Lord and his staff in general and if you dont mind my asking, what was your deciding factor in choosing Dr Lord?
Thanks for doing this for me. I appreciate it beyond words.
Sincerely
Anna

I'm about to have a revision from Mini-Gastric Bypass to RNY with Dr. Lord. My gastro doctor referred me to him, saying he's the best. I left that gastro appointment and walked downstairs to Dr. Lord's office, and they told me that the first thing I had to do was to attend one of his seminars. I believe they are the first Tuesday of every month, but call his office and verify that.

You will find the answer to all of your above questions at the seminar. Dr. Lord is hilarious!  I left the seminar in good spirt, knowing that I had chosen the right surgeon. And yes, both his office and the surgery suite are set up for large patients. You will see a slide show of that at the seminar, and I believe there are also some pictures on the Sacred Heart website.

I just went for my first appointment with Dr. Lord last week, so I can give you my opinions about the questions that you asked. I found Dr. Lord to be both professional and friendly. He does not talk over your head like some surgeons tend to do. He took a very long time with me. I don't know how long, but at least thirty minutes, it seemed.

His staff is wonderful. I hear his insurance department knows what they are doing, too. They know what requirements you need to complete to get approval, and they know what to do to make sure you meet all of those requirements.

Yes, all of my concerns were met. Revisions bring much more risk than a virgin surgery, and he made sure to give me all of the details about my risk. He also told me that I would not lose as much weight as I did with my first surgery. I found him to be very honest.

I have read reviews where some people have called him "co*ky", but I found him to be "confident". I like that in a surgeon. Nothing wrong with knowing that you are doing everything you can to make sure that your patients get the best possible care. I did not find him to be c*cky at all.

My deciding factor was the seminar, but the reason I went to him was because a highly rated gastro doc told me how risky a revision could be and said that "Dr. Lord is your man". I know quite a few people who have used other surgeons in the Pensacola area, and several of them had life threatening complications. If I had to go to someone other than Dr. Lord, it would be Dr. Champion in Atlanta. He's out of network for me, though, so my EPO plan would not cover a dime of it. I feel that he and Dr. Lord are equally qualified, so I'm thrilled to have found someone in network that could do my revision.

I have an appointment with the nutritionist tomorrow at Dr. Lord's office. Another one on Thursday.  Another yet on the 24th. Dr. Lord asked about my general health and history of medical tests, and told me that I need to get a mammogram and pap before he will do an endoscopy and schedule surgery. He is very thorough and is concerned with the whole person and not just the part that you are paying him to do.

Hope you go to a seminar very soon. You will love Dr. Lord and his staff!!

Great! I'll add you to my friend's list so I don't lose contact with you. The nutrition class yesterday was very informative. I learned lots of new stuff. I am very impressed with the level of education patients get with Dr. Lord. I have my one-on-one with the nutritionist at Dr. Lord's office tomorrow. I'll be watching for your update from your visit. Can't wait to hear what you think!!
