Anyone from Jacksonville going through Novus Center getting RNY?
I had Gastric Bypass in 1993. I am going in for a revision due to a gastric fistula. Dr. DePerry is doing the surgery. The problem is that I am not going through Novus Center (since it is to fix the fistula I didn't have to jump through the same hoops).
Do you have any information from your binder you are willing to share with me. I wanted some nutritional information for pre and post surgery. Also recovery time etc. I will be having open surgery (due to an umbilical hernia he is going to fix). I hate to spend all the money going through Novus just for a little bit of paper work.
Please my surgery is scheduled for January 6th.

Thanks!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated! I am going to see if I can pull it out of the dr what he expects in the weeks following the surgery. I would think they would have handouts on this kind of stuff but I guess they are used to Novus center doing ALL of the education that they no longer feel responsible for it
Novus used to be known as "Laproscopic Weight Loss Surgery Center" They changed to the new name back in October (or there abouts.)
It is the education/insurance coordination/support for Drs DePeri, Webb and Whelchel.
The surgeons and their direct office do not do any patient education or insurance certification, the Novus Center does.
The surgeons are VERY good and you will get excellent medical care from them.
How do I know? I had surgery 3 yrs ago today with Dr Webb and Dr DePeri assisted.
I don't know if I have any of my pre/post op materials around.
If I find them, I'll come back and email you.
Until then, I suggest that you read on the RNY board here at OH and read as much as you can between now and then about "post-op eating."
Also see my signature for another support website.

I went to my orientation today and got a binder that has the information I believe you need. I will try to get it scanned at work tomorrow so I can email it to you. If there's something specific you're looking for, just let me know and I'll reply and type it out for you so you'll have it right away. Good luck with your surgery tomorrow!
I would love for any information you cand send me from your Novus Center info. I had my revision for my original bypass on 1/6 and just got out today. Don't worry, you won't be in the hospital this long, there was more work involved because of the revision.
Any info on what to do after gastric bypass surgery would be wonderful! I have now what would be more like a normal gastric bypass. My original one was done so differently that now the surgery is the way it should have always been.
When are you going in for your surgery???

Good to hear that you made it back from surgery!
I will get those scanned and emailed to you tomorrow.
I have my first consult with the surgeon tomorrow. I think my insurance requires a 6month diet, so I might not have it until later this year. They assigned me to DePeri, so I hope he's as good with me as he was with you!

Thank you SO MUCH!!! Sucks about the 6 month diet. I can lose weight I just can't keep it off. So they would have been like, hey, you are within a more normal weight you don't need surgery, then when I put it back on they would be like you overeat so we wont give you surgery, I am sure!!! I got 'lucky' I guess with the fistula. Ends up mine was a "staple line failure" which the technical reason plus surgery was done SO differently back then they were able to give me a normal size (post op) pouch. It is still early and my only complaint is the GOD AWFUL gastric tube that I didn't have last time and just a few more days of that!!!
I was assigned to DePeri too.
PM me if I can help you out at all! You are helping me SO much!!!
