Can anyone in the Orlando fl , area reccomend a psychiatrist who specializes in weight loss surgery, pre-op evaluations and any other doctors that I may have to see in order to get these wheels moving? What I'm trying to do is get some of my standardized evaluations done before I go to my initial consultation to help with this speedy process.
Thanx so very much!

Sorry I can't help you as I'm on the east coast. I just wanted to wish you luck on your journey.

My psych eval had to be with the psychologist my surgeon said I had to go to.  You may want to start with that first.  Do you have a surgeon?

At your initial consult, DR. Jawads office should give you some paperwork that lists a few Psychs in the Orlando area.

I would wait. Some insurance companies and surgeons say that the psych eval is only valid for six months, some a year ... some surgeons only want you to use who they are comfortable with, as well.

I ended up having two psych evals.  My surgeon has a specific Psychologist he uses as part of the overall program, and she does an extensive evaluation and consultation that goes well beyond what the insurance company requires - she was very good, but unfortunately my insurance would not cover her fees ($500).  I didn't want to pay so much out of pocket without any assurance that my insurance company was even going to clear me for the surgery.

So, what I did was have a psychologist who was in-network with my insurance company do the eval that the insurance company required for pre-certification.  That consult was fully covered, I got my insurance clearance and THEN when I was sure the surgery was a go, I had my consultation with the surgeon's Psychologist.
