Hey cutie,

Have you thought about the DS? I'm not trying to change your mind or anything, but make sure you atleast check it out.

Also I've never heard of that Dr. you speaking of, however in my opinion the Sleeve is a better choice than the band. I also know its further away from youm but I have heard great things about Dr. Wizman in margate in referecne to the sleeve. Dr. Gagner is in Miami Beach (my choice) is top knotch and he also does the sleeve along with the DS.

    Hope I helped ya, Tiffany

I second that.  Go with what you want, but if you think you might be able to outsmart yourself and defeat a restricted stomach, you may want to look into malabsorption, which the duodenal switch (DS) offers in addition to restriction.  With the DS, you can still eat fats and sugars (unlike the RNY) and there's no dumping (unlike the RNY).  It also has the best longterm results of the major surgeries.

Dr. William Todd Overcash in Ocala performs the DS as well as other procedures (including the VSG, I believe) and is considered a Center of Excellence, as is the hospital at which he practices, Munroe Regional.  You can visit the website at http://www.munroebariatrics.com/

In the meantime, you might want to check out the DS forum.  Whatever your decision, best of luck to you on the journey.

If you look up on the VSG board there is a person named Suzilla who used Dr. Beltre. Or if you find her profile you could PM her. She has lost much weight and was very happy with him. Susan

The last time I knew anything about Dr. Beltre (early this year) was that he was taking 6 to 8 HOURS to do a RNY. I cannot imagine being under anesthesia that long. I would find out more about his OR time for surgery before deciding anything. You don't want to choose someone solely based on OR time, but it could be an indication of comfort level or skill. Just my two cents.
