Has anyone had recent RNY with Dr. Keith Kim???
Hello, I was wondering if anyone has had recent surgery with Dr. Keith Kim in Orlando. I checked his website and obesity help profile and it shows the last entries were in March '08. I was interested in him as my surgeon, but I would like to have some updated info on him as well as updated comments from other patients. Please help!
Thanks and have a wonderful week!

I have no personal experience with Dr. Kim but have read only very positive reviews about him. If you check out his profile on this site, you'll read a lot of testimonials about his gentle bedside manner, his compassion and his level of expertise.
I do have experience with Celebration Hospital, where his has privelages. It's a top-notch hospital with a good staff and great amenitites.
That said, have you done much research about the DS, or duodenal switch? While Dr. Kim is certified to do the procedure, I'm not sure he currently does (though I've heard rumors that he may start again). Studies show the DS has much more effective long-term results and allows for a more flexible balance of freedom and responsibiltity. No food restrictions (but always go low on carbs), no dumping. Check out the DS board; it's a great bunch of people who'll answer any question for you.
Whatever your decision, good luck. Again, I've only heard positive things about Dr. Kim.

I am pleased and proud to say that not only did Dr Kim save my life almost four years ago, but I was pleased to be his colleague for three years and count him as a friend now as well. He is a great surgeon, and a great man. You would do very well with him as your surgeon.

I believe this to be the same Dr. Kim that worked with US Bariatric in Fort Lauderdale when I had my lap rny in Dec. 2003. He was one of my visiting doctors. While he did not do my surgery, the group (US Bariatric) that he was training with is topnotch. Dr. Marema and Dr. Perez are the best of the best bariatric surgeons in my opinion! I will be 5 yrs post op in December and still below their projected goal weight. I'm at 125 and my goal weight was 134. Pretty good, I think.
See God's track record in your journey,
decide that you will trust Him.
Gwen, I notice that you live in Valrico. I live in Valrico also. I had Dr. Kim do my VSG on 10-15-08. He is great and I have been very happy with my surgery. I have lost 78 lbs. Still have 50 lbs. to go. If you have any questions that I can answer you can PM me and I will send you my phone number. I can highly recommend Dr. Kim. I only had one problem on a weekend and his answering service got him on the line before I could hang up. Very committed and has excellent protocol and team. Susan
I had my RNY 10/1/07 1 year ago with Dr. Kim. He was great. His staff would always get back with you if you had any concerns or questions. Dr. Kim was with US Bariatric but has sense taken over as the Director of the bariartic unit at Celebration Hospital. Dr. Kim is a wonderful person. We are having walk for obesity on Sep 27 8am Celebration Hospital come join us.
