Just wanted to say hello to everyone, I have been busy with the last minute things to do list before my RNY surgery coming up this WED. wow first I thought it was never going to happen, and already here it is!! I have been trying to keep myself busy getting everything done up ahead so We wont have to many surprises when I come home..I am now probley VERY ready lol lol
So nice to be able to come to a place where others have tread before and are making it..So nice to feel the support from a group even tho we havent met. I dont have a particular angel however this Florida board feels comfortable and I enjoy reading all of your posts.

I am a Registered Nurse so I am familiar with all the hospital routine stuff, I am concerned I will have a lot of nausea because I always have before with anesthesia,

If any of you would like to give me some tips to get throught the first week or 2, I would GREATLY appreciate your feed back. Its those little tips that can really help a person get through with a little more ease.

Thanks in advance Barb

Barb, just take it easy getting back to your routine as it was before. But also make those Healthy changes now too. I found it better to help myself rather than family & friends waiting on me. Oh and start walking, the first few days you may feel weak but that will pass. And have whoever picks you up for your ride home from the hospital. Bring you a pillow for you to hold on your belly going home. It helps with the bumps.

We'll see you on the WLS Train in a few days comntinuing your Journey to Losersville to live healthier,
Mike

No tips, as I'm farther behind you on this journey.  Just well wishes; you are about to be reborn,  Good luck and you have all my positive energy out there in the universe for a successful surgery and wonderful lasting effects.

I'm pre-op with a surgery date of September 3rd, so I don't have any tips, but did want to wish you the absolute best.  I also have a problem with nausea and anesthesia,so intend to make this very clear to the anesthesiologist prior to surgery.  In 2004, I had some minor surgery and gave the anesthesiologist the heads-up about the nausea, so prior to putting me out he gave me a shot of something, put one of those seasick patches behind my ear, and then put something else in my IV drip.  I had no nausea after the surgery, which was a first for me.  When I say nausea, I do mean complete with heavy heaving.  Last time I needed rectal suppositories to stop the heaving.  Anyhow, grab the anesthesiologist around his throat and let him know that you do not want to be tossing chow after you wake up, and hopefully he might be able to hook you up.

Again, best of luck to you!!!!

Let us know how it goes!!!

CONGRATS on your upcoming surgery! The ride is just begining!

My best advice is to take your pain meds on schedule even if you don't feel pain. It keeps the pain from creeping up on you. After the first week my pain was practically non existant and I was off the meds completely by 10 days out.

Take lip balm to the hospital because your lips get dry.

Take a pillow to hold agains your tummy on the ride home.

Walk walk walk and walk some more - but I am sure you know this.

jon always by you.
