Medicaid anyone?

I am almst resigned t the fact that I will have to take out a loan and go to mexico for my bariatric surgery. I do have medicaid though. Is there anyone here who has had medicaid pay for their surgery?

I knw how you feel I went throgh that for the past few years. I am having surgery next Tuesday and it is being done by Medicaid well Staywell. Straight medicaid does pay for it but there is no surgeons in FL that take it. If you can get a medicaid hmo you will have better luck. There is several drs that except Staywell. But I will tel you you have to do a year of monthly dr visits for diet and exercise and you cant miss not 1 month or you will have to start all over. I wuld sugest starting this now so when you find a dr and get to start the process you will be ahead of the game. It seems like a long time and a hard fight but it is worth the effort so dont give up.

Hi. I know that University of florida takes medicaid because that is who is doing my surgery. I can give you their site http://www.surgery.ufl.edu/bariatrics/. It may be a bit of travel for you but at least it's not mexico! it even gives you the guidelines that medicaid goes by. Any more help I can be just let me know. Lynn
