Mexico lapband/Jacksonville, Fl

Hi, my insurance doesn't cover lapband and I've tried vocational rehab (they now have financial requirements). I feel my only choice that I can afford is surgery in Mexico. I would like to hear of anyone from Florida that has been through this: good and bad. = Also, I can't find the Mexico or Cananda message board, can someone point in the direction?? Can't help with the lap band info, but to find the forums just click on forums "go local" above.  For Mexico click on "south of the border".

Before you head over the border to get that lapband, you might want to find a doctor that will FILL that band for you when you come home.
It's not just a matter of getting the surgery, but the aftercare too.
Keep the entire "package" in mind.

The closest fill center is Moultrie GA which is 2.5 hours. I will call about the Capital One card, but it is difficult to discount the savings. Thanks for the support!!! Emily

Oh, Emily, that was NOT the news I wanted to hear.  Financial requirements....dang it. But Sandy is right.  I don't know of anybody here that would do the fills so you might have to go to the Orlando fill center or maybe Brunswick hospital doctors will do fills on Mexican patients. Please don't forget about the possibility of getting one of those low interest rate credit cards.  I know Capitol One has one and I'm sure other people can tell you about others, as well. RNY and sleeve patients don't require constant after care like bandsters do.  And we've talked about these other surgeries.  Have you discounted them all together? Keep your chin up, my friend.  What about a supplemental insurance policy?  Just a thought.  Probably VERY expensive. La Wanda

I had my band done by Dr. Ariel Ortiz.  Fills in St. Pete by kathy gonzalez from fill center.  high extremely recommend them both. 

I had my surgery with Dr. Pedro Kuri in Tijuana. He was wonderful, his staff and hospital were top notch!
