VSG'ers, dealing with summer heat?

I'm scheduled to have surgery (VSG) outside the US in 2 weeks, hopefully everything will stay on track and it'll actually all happen. I'm nervous about the fact of trying to deal with the heat and stay hydrated?  I instruct people about 4 days a month for full 8-10hr days outside, typically with short breaks in the shade for 20min or so.   I'm nervous about being able to stay hydrated and wondered if anyone here who's had the VSG can comment? Thanks Dave

Dr. Overcash is your surgeon and you're going out of the country to have surgery.  I'm curious, what's up? La Wanda

I was originally going to get RNY back in '05 when I signed up on here by Overcash and backed out prior to my date. Since then I've tried relentlessly to do it on my own (lose weight). I hit the gym hard for a year and followed a nutrition program, lost 50# but have since gained 2/3 back. I don't know how to change the surgeon name on my profile, that's why its still listed like so. Anyone have any tips for dealing with the summer heat outdoors?? And stay hydrated? Thanks, Dave

If you haven't already, head over to the Men's Forum and ask the guys there how they have dealt with the summer heat and staying hydrated... they have the scoop that is more tailored from a male perspective.

Good Luck

What doctor are you seeing now ?  I was wondering because I am getting a Lapband in the end of June and will be moving to Lake Mary shortley after.

You might also want to post that question on VSG board.  From what I've read on the board they say SIP, SIP, SIP,

Honestly? for the first month or two, it will be very hard to stay hydrated. Is there any way that you can take time off work? Or do more of your work inside or in the shade?

At about the three month mark, I could drink larger gulps, which helped.

Also, buy a camelbak. They are excellent! I was at an outdoor festival for 5 days, in the Texas heat, and with the camelbak refilled every few hours, I stayed hydrated the whole time.
