Hey, Melissa.  This is off topic, but I just wanted to say hello.  I live in Jacksonville, on the edge of OP.  I would love to hear from you. Tonya

Are you from that area?  Sure when I move back up there in June maybe we can get together.  You will probably be ahead of me in your journey but atleast we live close if we need some advise or whatever. Thanks!

Rock on sister for having the surgery! I was supposed to have Dr. Webb, however he was on vacation the week I was to have surgery, hence my surgeon became Dr. Depery. He is awesome as well. LAPWLS and Dr. Webb's office make it all so easy. I've been a bit of a slacker as far as going to support meetings as I have prior arrangements to both nights they hold them however my evenings are opening up so I should be at the next support meeting at Memorial on June 5th at 7pm. Let me know how you are doing.

Where you a selfpay?  Congrats on your surgery...  I will be going to my seminar the 12th and my consult is the 13th (of June)...  I can't wait!

I had a VERY negative experience with both LWSC and Steve Webb. LWSC charges very high fees and the services they provide are lacking at best. I was scheduled for surgery, paid for it, and had all my pre-ops done when Steve Webb decided that he would not do RNY on me because of some health issues I have. I had provided him with a vast amount of medical records as well as discussed all of my medications and health issues with him during my first meeting and he assured me were no problem. I lost the program fee I paid LWSC as well as all of the money I put into getting the "required tests" and "referrals for clearances" that Steve Webb required, not to mention that fact that I live in Germany and my husband and I have flown back and forth frequently to meet the constantly changing demands of LWSC and Webb. I had my surgery done on May 7 with Dr. Marema in St. Augustine http://www.flaglerhospital.org/Medical_Services/Bariatric_Surgery_Center/Meet_Dr_Marema.aspx Dr. Marema is such a wonderful surgeon who has done over 6000 WLS and believes in a holistic approach. After comparing the two doctors through my experiences with both, I am grateful Webb backed-out at the last minute. The program fee is reasonable (about 1/3 of what LWSC charges) and the team is fantastic and so very professional. Every time I go to Dr. Marema, a dietician, a physical therapist, and a special WLS nurse meet with me, in addition to Dr. Marema, to design a program for me that meets my unique needs. As far as WLS support groups in Jacksonville, drop La Wanda an e-mail. She is the leader of the WLS support group I attend. [email protected]

All of that sounds so horrible.  I am having to put off WLS for a moment due to some personal issues.  When I start the journey over again I will see what happens then. Thanks!
