I've moved to Brooksville,Florida 3 months ago from Philadelphia and I am in need of a new doctor for check ups and fills.I enrolled in United Healthcare.Really don't know much about its policies and their support of WLS.One of my main concern is the insurance covering the doctor visits and fills.Does anyone know if United Healthcare or any isurance company that covers band fills. And can anyone recommend a doctor in the central florida area?I contacted Dr. Juwad's office but I was told he doesn't take outside patients.I also contacted Dr. Grossbard's office and I am waiting to hear more from them but I was told that they charge $500 for the first fill and $300 for fills after.Need all the help I can get with any info anyone care share

Hi K.Day.  Welcome to Florida.  UHC covered my lap RNY 4+ years ago but I'm not sure what they cover on the band and fills.  I know that there is a bariatric center iLakeland, FL and my group has an office in Orlando n (US Batiatric).  Keep searching....I'm sure you will find a doc, a support group as you continue on your weight loss journey. luvitsunnyv

I live in Spring Hill.  I have UHC and they won't cover anything of WLS for me.  I have to pay out of pocket and I can't afford that.

I have uhc and they paid my band 4 years ago, so they have to pay my fills., So check with them first, it takes a special code #. Since you have already been banded they should pay for the fills, we need a fill station somewhere thats not so pricey. Uhc doesn't pay anymore for lap bands. But, every policy is different. Good luck.

Thanks Alpat, from what I've been told from the doctor's office,UHC does not cover fills.I wouldn't have too much of a problem paying for fills if I was used to doing so but since I never had to pay for fills before with my other insurance,I can't really see myself paying $500 for a fill and $300 for a Dr. visit when insurance should pay for it since it is a medical necessity.I will call around with other insurance companies because I won't stay with UHC
