I had my RNY on December 4th, so far have lost 50 pounds. However most of the food I can eat disgust me and I wet through a period about 3 weeks ago where I barely ate cause everything made me nauseous. Resulting from that I started to have a lot of saliva build-up in my mouth and then swallowed it withouth realizing I was swallowing. And then I would throw up all of that saliva, never food. Since then it has been a daily thing where I spit in a towel all day long but still throw up the saliva a few times a day. My doctor knows this and she actually had me hospitalized for a day because I wouldn't stop throwing up. She said the solution to this problem was to eat. I have been trying my hardest to eat and eat much, much more and on time than I did before, but still the saliva won't stop. Right now the vitamins make me nauseous although I'm trying to take them. I feel queasy and withouth any strenght because of this. Has anyone gone through this? Any advice? Help please! I'm getting pretty desperate! Also not having a support group is killing me, I really want to talk to people who are also going through this!

Hi tinkypatz.  I went thru a period  at about the same time post op.  Eating was the farthest thing from my mind.  Remember to keep hydrated.  Dehydration symptoms are nausea....rather ironic.  Remember to chew, chew, chew your very small bites of food.  The foamies can occur when you are eating either too much or your bites are bigger than your pouch wants to allow.  Its the way the esophagus can react post RNY surgery.  Try liquid vitamins for awhile.  Go back to the basic soft foods.....keep trying!  Email me if you need some encouragement and support. luvitsunnyv

What part of Florida do you live it?  You are not even two months post op correct?  You should definitely still be using chewable or liquid vitamins.  It is better to go back to a full-liquid diet for a while and see if you can't get your system to settle down.  You can get some clear liquid protein drinks from Vitamin Shoppe that have good protein and will help get your protein in while you are having this problem.  It will also help with the hydration. I had my RNY Oct 1,  and I went through the same thing.  It's horrible to go through.  My doctor sent me in for endoscopy and found out mine was closed up from the healing process.   It should be 12cm.  Mine was only 6cm.  Nothing could pass through the little hole at the bottom of your new pouch .  (STRICTURE)  Not to sure If I spelled it write.   They could only open it 3cm at a time.  Im scheduled on 1/23 for my 2nd endoscopy.  They put me out for it so it's ok.  I had my first procedure done 2weeks ok.  I have not thrown up since the first procedure, however I can only eat soft foods until I get the secound procedure done.   My RNY surgeon was Dr. Kim.  I had Dr. Anwer do my endoscopy at celebration health. I still carry my sick sac's in the car and in my purse.  You never know when your going to have a back up. good luck Neice
