OK, were here as your New adopted family to help you! What Surgeon's WLS Seminars have you've been to?  And are you sure of which Surgery you'd like to receive? If you check with the Staff of the Surgeon you've chosen, they should be able to help you with finding an Insurance Plan (but that may take more time, How's your patients? Keep a Positive note on every aspect along your journey. They may also offer/suggest some Fianancial/Loan Plans. Please keep us Updated, Mike I used Humana Gold Plus, but they handled my Medicare Plan.

Who is telling you that it isn't covered? The company itself? If so, try calling with diagnosis codes and procedure codes. Otherwise, you may receive an arbitrary response.

If the surgeon accepts assignment -- then all of the fees will be deeply discounted and 50% may not be as much as you think.  For example my WLS billed something like $4,000 but my insurance only allowed something like $1300.  so my 50% would have been $650 and not $2000.  Before you give up all hope or purchase a very expensive supplemental plan find out exactly what kind of numbers they are talking about.
