How do you know when you have had enough? I am now on soft foods and eating them with no problems. Last night I had some salmon and broc/carrots. I definitely could have eaten more, but decided to stop because I was scared. Is there any clue/hint as to when you know you have had enough? I don't want to eat more than I should and get sick.

If your eating soft/pureed foods and it seems your eating too much as like grazing is. The food is sliding through. I'm sure your not drinking while your eating which just flushes food through plus not drinking within 30-60 minutes of eating. SO the best you can do for yourself is to measure everything before eating it. Maybe make enough before-hand by pre-measuring. And also try keep a Journal/Log of everything you are eating. Keep moving positively forward, Mike

At your stage, I would measure everything to avoid overfilling.

Tami, Mike and Kristen all say measure your food. I'm a new post op too...  almost 3 weeks out and wondering the same thing . How much should we measure out? How do we know how much we should be eating in a sitting? -Marianne C.

Hello, Love.

It all depends on what your surgeon and nut have told you. According to WLS for Dummies, page 132, post-ops can accommodate:

? One Month PO = 1 to 1 1/2 ounces per meal (2-3 tablespoons);
? Three Months PO = 3 ounces or 1/4 cup per meal;
? Six Months PO = 4-5 ounces (1/2 cup); and
? 18-24 Months PO = 8 to 10 ounces (1 to 1 1/2 cups).

HTH.

Do you feel any restriction at all?

Call your surgeon and let the office know what is going on. You may not have had your first adjustment yet, so that could explain a lot.
