Hi Eli,
Well for me it's about simplicity. I have done the body Fortress from walmart, it is a good price, but hated to mix them. I am lazy!!! I like the advantage adkins drinks, just chunk them in the freezer get them slushey and boom low fat, 160 calories. The price is about 4.96 for 4 cans, but geesh, ff milk is 4.14 and by the time I doctor the powders to make them tolerable,,I don't see much price difference.
Vitamines are centrium chewables...so far so good. And citcrical chocolate chewable things,,,kinda like eating a treat,,but they make some people dump. Hope this helps.
Hi Eli,
For vitamins, I use Building Blocks. I know, I know, I work for the co-owner. But seriously, I have tried Bariatric Advantage and Vista Vitamins, and my labs aren't as good as when I am using Building Blocks.
For protein, I couldn't find one that I really liked until I was 6 months out. My husband loves the grape Any Whey bullets, but I love Nectar in the Fuzzy Navel peach flavor (I mix it with orange Crystal Light.) Very light and juicy. Also love unflavored Unjury. I used to keep a scoop on my cutting board and sprinkle a little bit into everything I ate or drank all day long. It's an easy way to get in 20-25 grams of protein without having a shake, per se.
Building Blocks - available at USB or online at www.bbvitamins.com
Any Whey and Nectar - available at www.bariatriceating.com or at the Vitamin Shoppe.
Unjury - available at USB or www.unjury.com.

I am heading into 7 months post op and use Bariatric Advantage vitamins - no issues with labs. I get them from BariatricEating.com or the BariatricAdvantage.com site. As for protein, we are purchasing unjury as well. I can not stomach the shakes anymore. It was easier pre op because you could chug them down. Not anymore. :P

I use Bariatric Advantage for Iron, Multi and Calcium. I pay about $90 for a three month supply. My B-12 is a script shot, which I pay less than $5, it is actually below the script coverage of ten bucks. I also take Biotin and chewable Vitamin C. I pay about $10 per month for those two.
For protein, I use Unjury. Moslty I use vanilla, mixed with different flavors of Crystal Light for variety. I am incorporating more of the newer Chicken flavor into my cooking. I have chocolate on hand for an occasional treat mixed with soy milk. The canisters are $17 for 17 servings. I use 3-4 per month.
I also use Power Crunch Protein Bars for an added boost. My hubby loves these and eats more of them than I do. The box of 15 is $13 from bodybuilding.com. We buy six boxes at a time and it last about six weeks. I probably consume less than one box per month.
My suggestion.................pay the premium for samples in the beginning. Most every vendor has smaller options. I wasted money finding what suited my life style and taste buds. Eating protein powder was a mandate, it is about my health. My labs and health have been great since the beginning. I am 21 months post op.

I agree with Sunny.....I listen to my docs and don't skimp.
Building blocks multi, 30mg iron and calcium. I have the vista vitamin packs for in the car. Building blocks are inexpensive about 80$ for 3 month supply. Occasionally I inject vit b-12, but the sublingual dose a few times a month has been doing me good lately.
protein: achieve from bariatric eating. Was drinking them for 2 yearsat two a day. I don't care for powders. Recently went to gnc and tried the lean body chocolate ice cream flavor protein drink, and that is tasty too. Its local and I don't have to wait for backorders, which I get alot from the achieve site (bariatriceating.com).
Now I did try the whey gormet chocolate peanutbutter powder, and that was good. So I am going to get that.
I get my vitamins from building blocks vitamin site.
Remember, we have a mal absorption surgery. We can't skimp on vitamins, and ones made to absorb quickly inour system are important.
blessings, Tami
