Any one in the Tampa/Sarasota area??

Hi all live in St Petersburg area not far from you. Lived here now a year. I had surgery three years ago but always need the support of others. I did look on here once for support groups and didn't really get alot of feed back. But I need to start getting on this site more...lol I moved from Indiana and I sure don't miss the cold weather at all!!!Will be going back up their over labor day week just for vacation and it will be cool enough for me...lol

Have fun in Indiana, Where in Indiana are you going to. I grew up in Benton Harbor Michigan. Not far from South Bend Indiana. We go to Shipsawana quite a bit when we are in Chicago. Are you driving or flying up there? Carla

We will be going to Logansport area whick is a hour from South Bend. Did you know we have a new air lines that goes out of St Petersburg and goes into South Bend? It is call Allegiant Air. We are flying.

Good Morning!   (Hi Carla, too)  I am the worst at keeping up with the Florida board.  I promise to do better.  There is a great support group meeting in Bradenton on the second Tuesday of each month.  We meet at the library on 26th Street West near Bayshore Gardens Pkwy.  (63rd Avenue).  The time is six pm to 7:45.  The group is a peer support, founded by two women who are post op veterans.  The group has folks from all over, many surgeons, many years post op to pre op's and seekers.  I have a website link for the group.  If you would like to talk to the ladies who run the program, I can give you the link.  Use the private message thing and I will forward it to you.  (I am not sure if other web links are permitted on the message boards). I am almost two years post op.  I give credit to the peer support group for so much information and support.  Please join us! Vicky

I know the group you are talking about. I went in June when we came down to rent our house. I havent been since as we went back to Colorado to pack up and move back down here. ]I am planning on going in September though. I was going to go in Augest but I didnt get back in time on That Tuesday from Chicago. I am 5 years out and have lost 157 pounds. Carla Klein

Here is the Weblink to the Manatee-Sarasota Support Group: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Manatee-SarasotaWLS/ As to Pinellas County Support Groups: We run an "OH Support Group" every Third Monday of each month at 6:30 PM at the "Lo Carb Connection" in Largo Mall just left/East of the Largo Mall movie theaters. And another OH Support Group will be starting soon in Tarpon Springs & Hudson. Plus we're hoping to find someone who would like to take the OH Leadership training and start an OH Support Group in the lower part of Pinellas County preferly St. Petersburg. Also in Manatee and Sarasota. As Frank Breiden, just completed his training and will be starting a group in the Riverview area.  But also there are a few other Support Groups in Pinellas County: 2 at the Palms of Pasadena Hospital Professional Bldg., Boca Ciega Room 1609 Pasadena Ave. St. Petersburg, FL Both are open to all types of WLS & their supporters. The next being this coming Wednesday at 6:30 PM ran by Dr. Baum and after that the 15th of September, ran by Dr. Lindsay. Both of these are Pysch Doctors. http://www.obesitynomorefl.com/calendar.php Plus there is one more that I know of open to all types of WL, in the community center of  the Anona Methodist Church at the corner of Wilcox Rd. & Indian Rocks Rd., Largo, FL Ran by Dr. Jesse. hi barbara glad u found us! my sister lives in bradenton, who also has had surgery r.n.y. with dr esti i live in wimauma but travel to palmetto bradenton area a few times a week we go to shapes 3 times a week. we also attend a wl group meeting in bradenton the 2 tuesday every month if you might be intrested just let me know...welcome aboard........ sherry

i'm kellie here from tampa, i had the rny done last wednesday (8/22), got home from the hospital friday.  so far so good! down 19 lbs.
